Empowering Education for Tribal & Nomadic Children
School Kit Distribution Initiative by GT Foundation in Hunusur, Mysore District (2019)
In 2019, GT FOUNDATION undertook a meaningful School Kit Distribution program for Tribal and Nomadic childrenin and around Hunusur, Mysore District, with the aim of improving access to education for underserved communities. This initiative by GT FOUNDATION focused on supporting children from economically and socially marginalized backgrounds by providing essential school supplies that help reduce barriers to learning.
As part of this educational outreach initiative, GT FOUNDATION distributed school kits to nearly 400 school-going children, each kit containing stationery items, textbooks, and a school bag. These kits addressed a critical need and enabled children to attend school better prepared, motivated, and confident.
The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with students arriving along with their parents from various remote villages near Hunusur. Many families traveled long distances to participate, clearly demonstrating the strong desire among Tribal and Nomadic communities to prioritize education despite financial and logistical challenges. For GT FOUNDATION, this response reaffirmed the importance of grassroots-level educational support.
The presence of the District Collector and other distinguished dignitaries added significance to the event and highlighted the importance of community participation, leadership involvement, and collective responsibility in creating meaningful social impact. Their encouragement strengthened GT FOUNDATION’S belief that lasting change is possible when people come together with a shared purpose.
This School Kit Distribution initiative by GT FOUNDATION serves as a powerful reminder that small, thoughtful interventions can create lasting impact. By supporting children at a crucial stage in their educational journey, GT FOUNDATION contributed to promoting school attendance, reducing dropout rates, and inspiring families to continue investing in education. The initiative reflects GT FOUNDATION’s continued commitment to giving back to society, empowering young minds, and nurturing hope at the grassroots level.
Through this initiative, GT FOUNDATION demonstrated how small yet meaningful support can create lasting educational impact, empowering Tribal and Nomadic children and strengthening hope at the grassroots level.
